STEPS URBAN HEALTH CENTRE (STEPS UHC)

Functioning in Slums of Srikalahasti Municipality and Providing health care and clinical services .

Objectives

To provide1. Health care and treatment. 2. Mother and Child Health (MCH) and Reproductive Health (RCH) Services 3. Family Planning Methods & Operations 4. Creating awareness on issues related to Health and Family Welfare.

Project Activities

The STEPS UHC provides primary health care including Reproductive and Child Health services, Treatment to Diseases, Antenatal and Postnatal care, Growth Monitoring.

Accessibility of Maternal and Child Healthcare services and ensured timely referral of complicated cases to higher health facilities.

Enhancing knowledge of pregnant women and mothers on care during pregnancy, nutrition and care of new born and malnourished children, Institutional Delivery, Immunization.

Developing the knowledge and skills on Maternal and Child Health issues among women community groups, Self help Groups (SHGs) and Mahila Arogya Sangams (MAS) groups.

Health Education and Motivational activities through counseling, demonstration exhibition and literature distribution during festivals to bring about attitudinal and behavioral changes in the target groups about health issues.

Health Awareness Campaigns for Women and Adolescents focusing on Hygiene, Immunization, STI and Family planning methods.

Conducting Medical Examination for school children and distributing medicines to students.

Achievements: During 2000-2015(15 years)

Notable achievement of STEPS UHC is with the motivation and awareness created among the schedule casts and schedule tribes, they are approaching the UHC voluntarily for the family planning operations.

300683 People including 203186 Women, 47934 Men and 49563 Children are treated in STEPS UHC

6267 Pregnant women registered for services from UHC

5746 Institutional deliveries achieved by STEPS UHC

6267 Pregnant women reached out with Ante Natal care services.

34861 Children were Immunized in UHC and during National Immunization programs.

28204 Health counseling sessions organized for slum people.
