Frontiers Prevention Project & Avahan Project
Implementing STEPS FP Project in Srikalahsti and Puttur sites, AVAHAN project in Thottambedu, Pichattur, Satyavedu sites supported by International HIV/AIDS Alliance UK, working with key population of female sex workers, MSMs, people living with HIV/AIDS by developing enabling environment and providing STI treatment, basic HIV care, Creating awareness, advocacy about STI, HIV/AIDS among key population and general population
Objectives :
- Reduction of STI Prevalence among Key Population and their clients
- Increased condom usage amongst Sex Workers and their clients in these sites
- Increased empowerment of Sex Workers Committees and creation of an enabling environment
- Providing clinical services for STI and opportunistic infections to the Key Population
- Empowerment of Key Population to follow safe sex behavior and practices
Achievements :
1. Identified and recruited out reach workers from the Key population (KPS)
2. With the help of ORWS identified the key population and their hot spots
3. Developed rapport with the KPS by one to one and group meetings, and encourage formation of Community Based Organizations.
4. Developed drop in centers (DIC) where key population can meet and discuss their
Problems.
5. Clinics were established in DICS, where Doctors will be available as per the convenient timings of KPS
6. Key population referred to area hospital for VCTC
7. Pre test and post test concealing provided for key population
8. Provided training for the KPs in correct usage of condoms and the condoms are made available to them
Advocacy meetings:

Awareness camps:
Arranged exhibition stall, video shows during important festivals like Mahasivarathri, Dharmarajula Tirunala and distributed IEC material to create awareness about STI, HIV/AIDS among general population

3. Formation of Community Based Organizations (CBOs):
Encouraging key population to form CBOs. Up to now 1FSW, 1MSM, 1PLHA CBOs were formed and registered. Different welfare activities were conducted for the CBO members.

4. Clinical services:
Providing counseling and treatment for the key population and their partners for sexually transmitted infections and opportunistic infections in the Mythri clinics.
