Serve Train Educate People’s Society (STEPS) established in the year 1993 as a non-profit, non-governmental, voluntary organization at Srikalahasti a famous Pilgrim town in Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh state, India. It is legally accredited with Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 of Government of Andhra Pradesh. Registered under FCRA 1976 Ministry of Home Affairs, Tax Exemption under 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Department, Govt of India.
Its head office at Srikalahasti has been working since 1993 with a commitment to rouse rural and urban poor, make them better living and participation in action for all round development.
The president of STEPS who is a Medical Doctor acting as chief functionary and to share her responsibility one Executive Director has been nominated to facilitate administration and implementation of programmes.
All programmes are headed by volunteers and development facilitators with participation and involvement of peoples committees.
This NGO gives special emphasis on Medical and health aspects of those particularly preventive and curative health related programmes with a special focus on children, Adolescent girls and boys and Women with more specifically emphasis on strengthen and expand HIV/AIDS & Malaria clinical, awareness and advocacy services integrated child health and education to the needy.
Organization of women into groups and to promote grass root level initiation for their empowerment. Safe guards human rights in the form of equal rights for children, women, and adolescents with right to live with dignity and universal right on common resources with grass root level initiations.
OBJECTIVES:

To provide medical aid in rural and urban slums and to organize the programmes of sanitation, health, medical and maternity services and trains the organizers at the village level.

To undertake disease control programmes like HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB, Cancer, Leprosy

To undertake environmental pollution control programmes, slum clearing programmes, tree plantation, agriculture, social forestry and nursery.

To start vocational and income generation training centers and organizing self help groups in rural and urban slums to uplift poor community for their sustainable development.

To organize orphan homes, child care centres, crèche centres, day care centres and street children programme and to start rehabilitation centres for the physically handicapped children.

To collaborate with other institutions, associations and societies in India and Abroad interest in similar objects.
Target People:
STEPS is committed to work with people living in Urban slums and rural areas, Adolescent girls and boys, Women and Children, Daliths, Economically backward communities, Agricultural Labors, marginal farmers, Rural artisans, Migrated labor and Key Population FSW (Female Sex Workers), MSM (Male Sex with Male), IDU (Injection Drug Users), PLHAs (People Living with HIV/AIDS).
